It poured during the night so, despite staying dry inside the tent, we awoke to a sodden campsite and outer tent. Fortunately, our paniers had been sheltered in the bear box so all our clothes etc were dry.
Rob packed up the wet tent and we set off in the rain for the day's adventure. Breakfast was after 10 miles in a diner where we warmed up with coffee, omelettes and hash browns. The next 41 miles were tough. Rain, head wind all the way and fully loaded, we wondered why on earth we were doing this trip. However, at last we arrived in Eureka where we are staying with a friend of a friend, Rick and his wife, Vicky even though we don't know them. They welcomed us into their house and provided chicken curry, showers and a bed - so friendly and welcoming. We're both feeling extremely tired after 51 miles in a head wind so need to review our planned mileage taking into account the weather forecast over the next few days if we are to complete this trip.
