Our Itinery

We fly out to Vancouver on August 30th. After a couple of days acclimatisation, checking our equipment and assembling the bikes we head north up the Sunshine Coast to the Powell River, where we take a ferry across to Vancouver Island. From there we head south to Victoria ( a Canadian Harrogate we are told!) and then ferry hop through the San Juan Islands to eventually enter the USA at Anacortes.

At this point we follow the American Adventure Cycling Association (like Sustrans) Pacific Coast route passing through Washington, Oregon and California before reaching the Mexican border at San Diego. 1987.3 miles in all excluding side trips.

We will be fully self contained, carrying everything on the bikes including Nicola's hair straighteners!

We aim to cycle 50/60 miles a day, mainly camping but interspersed with recovery motel stops especially if it rains.

At the end of the journey, after chucking the bikes in the sea, we plan to hire a car, visit the Grand Canyon and  Yosemite National Parks, do Las Vegas and finally spend a week on the beach at Santa Barbara before flying home from Los Angeles on 30th November.
