Back to rain and cold weather during the night and this morning - what's going on?? Rob packed up a soaking tent before we left for today's ride up to the Avenue of the Giants, a 34 mile route through the Redwoods. We contemplated staying the night in a cabin on a private campsite but quickly decided a wet tent wasn't that bad when we discovered the price for a night in a cabin was $165! Hopefully a good decision as the weather then started to improve and the sun did its best to convince us we are in California.
We have now set up the tent in Burlington State Park in the middle of Redwood trees towering above us up to 134 feet (according to the blurb). We were the first on the hiker/biker site (as always!) but have since been joined by the young group from last night so we're all sharing a fire tonight if we can get it going! Bud Light now and chunky vegetable and beef tinned broth later - yum!
