Day 30 Brookings to Crescent City 35 miles

We've finally made it to California!  And we're definitely half way having cycled over 1000 miles!
After a lovely night of comfort in Spindrift Motel in Brookings last night in a king size bed which was at least 3 times as big as the total area of Rob's tent, we set off into a strong head wind and battled 35 miles to
Crescent City.  The route was very scenic and  relatively flat and much of it was off US 101 on quieter roads through residential areas and close to the coast. The campsite we had planned to stay at had closed for the season yesterday so we decided to stay another night in a motel especially as rain is forecast overnight and early morning.
Probably a sensible decision as both Rob and I are feeling rather windswept and tired as we have now been cycling for 18 days without a full day off.
Tomorrow we have a big day ahead as we cycle upwards into the Redwood National Park with at least 1000ft of ascent so a comfortable night and the chance to do our laundry was welcome.

  1. Congratulations on completing the first 1,000 miles. The second half will be warmer and drier! Keep smiling! Eric
