Well we've finally made it! We're here in San Diego having cycled 2141 miles over 54 cycling days. Ironically, the navigation through San Diego to our hotel proved to be the most difficult of the whole trip - we definitely went the wrong way - twice - think the concentration's gone (Rob's decision to have a celebratory half pint at lunchtime was perhaps a mistake?). We even forgot to take a photo of both of us at the end although we are here together - just!
We've booked into a Comfort Inn for 4 nights in the lovely Gas Lamp area of the city (managed to get a special hotel 'deal of the day' online a few days ago hence the mad mileage over the last few days to get here by the 6th November). This is definitely the nicest accommodation we've stayed in to date - it feels almost civilised (think I should have been in charge of the accommodation arrangements from the beginning?).
We went out for a celebratory burger and beer before collapsing, exhausted, back at the hotel.
Huge congrats. Having survived this Nicola, you might as well get yourselves up to Vegas !!!
