We were woken up in the night by torrential rain, which was rather concerning as our tent was pitched right next to the rapidly rising stream! And not conducive to getting up and venturing out for a wee!
The only consolation was that the rain drowned out the howling of the kayotes (yes we saw one!) and bears (despite Rob's assurance that there aer none here) the owner of the campsite contradicted his view completely! Sensibly, therefore, and not sure of Rob"s willingness or ability to defend me, I slept with my whistle round my neck ( thank you Thorpe Willoughby School).
Miraculously the tent proved to be waterproof despite a sea of mud all around and a slug on my lilo! Rob rallied forth, however (true gent as he is ha ha) and made me a much needed cup of tea to encourage me to venture forth. Whatever have I let myself in for I wondered? This was meant to be fun after all those years of hard work!
