After a relaxed start this morning we cycled 30 easy miles around the Victoria peninsula up to Sidney to catch the late ferry over to San Juan Island. The weather was lovely - sun all the way - and the views magnificent.
Despite Rob's paranoia (I was seriously wondering if he had an undisclosed criminal record - how else has he lived the life of Riley for the last 13 years without doing a day's work?), we got through US customs without a hitch.
We arrived late at the campsite in the pitch dark but, after a quick supper of egg sarnies and a cup of tea, it was time to squeeze into our tiny tent and ger some rest before setting off on the American part of our trip.
Shouldn't we have a gun with us I wonder as I drift off to sleep? We're in the middle of a dense wood in the black of night somewhere on San Juan Island. What's the biggest risk - bears or Trump supporters? Sweet dreams.........
